Anyways, the first band in this new installment will be one called Cold Blue Kid hailing from Chicago. We came across these guys after randomly coming across the music blog maimedandtamed.com. After reading through some posts, we saw a comparison to Broken Social Scene and decided to give it a listen. While the guys over at M&T gush about the BSS comparison, we see a minor comparison. This isn't your jam out and crush the guitars Broken Social Scene. This is more of the mellow BSS that we have also come to love. This sounds a like a mix of Feel Good Lost and Broken Social Scene Presents: Kevin Drew's Spirit If..., with an emphasis on the Kevin Drew.
Either way, the blog describes the group as, "the Chicago based brainchild of Alex Longoria, who recorded the first CBK album on his own along with his “guitars, laptop, mics and whole lot of imagination.”" They go on to discuss how Longoria teamed up with five other musicians to record their newest effort Mimic which is due out January 12th.
